Our Method

The Refinishing Process

We treat your cabinets with the same care as fine furniture. Our multi-step process ensures a durable, beautiful finish.

1

Removal & Labeling

We carefully remove all doors, drawers, and hardware, labeling each piece to ensure perfect reinstallation.

2

Deep Cleaning

Years of grease and grime are removed using professional degreasers to ensure proper coating adhesion.

3

Sanding & Repair

Surfaces are sanded to create a mechanical bond. We fill holes, repair damage, and ensure smooth substrates.

4

Prime & Spray

We apply high-build primer followed by multiple coats of conversion varnish in our professional spray booth.

5

Reassembly

After curing, we reinstall all components with new hardware (if provided) and ensure perfect alignment.

Conversion Varnish vs. Standard Paint

Unlike standard latex paints, conversion varnish creates a chemical cure that results in a harder, more durable surface. It's the same finish used on high-end factory cabinets—resistant to water, chemicals, and daily wear.

  • Harder than enamel paint
  • Chemical & water resistant
  • Self-leveling for smooth finish

    FAQ

    Cabinet Refinishing Questions

Common questions about our cabinet painting process.

How long does cabinet refinishing take?

Most kitchen cabinet projects take 3-5 business days. Bathrooms typically take 2-3 days. This includes removal, preparation, spraying, curing time, and reinstallation. We work efficiently to minimize your kitchen downtime.

What types of cabinets can be refinished?

We can refinish wood cabinets (oak, maple, cherry, hickory), MDF, and laminate surfaces. The key is structural integrity—if your cabinets are solid but dated in appearance, refinishing is likely a great option.

    Can I change my hardware?

Absolutely! In fact, we recommend it. New knobs and pulls complete the transformation. We can fill old holes and drill new ones to accommodate different hardware configurations if needed.

    How durable is the finish?

Our conversion varnish finish is significantly harder than standard paint. It's resistant to water, household chemicals, and scratching. With normal use and proper care, your refinished cabinets will look beautiful for 10+ years.

Do you paint the cabinet interiors?

Standard refinishing includes exterior surfaces, door fronts, and drawer fronts. Interior painting is available as an add-on service. Many clients choose to line interiors with fresh shelf paper instead for a cost-effective refresh.
